ZOMBA!!!

Zomba kids 2016-17
  • Music is an integral part of the overall education for Charles F. Tigard Elementary students.  As an added enrichment, 5th grade students are given the opportunity for extra music performance through an after school marimba/drum ensemble called Zomba.  Zomba members become part of a dedicated team of musicians working towards a common goal of making great music!  Students learn how to encourage one another, work independently, develop initiative, and strive to increase musical skills through intense rehearsals and performances.

    • Zomba rehearsals are Tuesdays from 2:30-4 p.m. Students will be notified in advance of the schedule changes. There is no bus service for this program, so families will need to make arrangements for student pick-up at 4 p.m. This program runs from October through the beginning of June.
    • We are asking parents to pay a yearly fee for Zomba.  We wanted to keep the program affordable, but are in need of an operating budget to cover expenses associated with the ensemble. This includes one t-shirt, snacks, instrument repair and replacement, and performance transportation. The cost for a full year is $60, made payable to Charles F. Tigard Elementary.  (We will not refuse students based on an inability to pay.)
    • Students will not be able to join this ensemble later in the year - so please sign-up in September if you are interested.

Registration sheets are available at school or as a download on this website. I am looking forward to Zomba!  Our first rehearsal is Tuesday, October 3rd!
